Floor Replacement: What is involved in installation?

June 24th, 2013

Are you getting new carpet, hardwood flooring, luxury vinyl or laminate flooring? Congratulations on your investment! The Hopkins Carpet One team is sure you’ll enjoy your new flooring. We know that for all of our clients, including those in Hopkins, Eden Prairie and Minnetonka, floor replacement projects offer a new, unique opportunity to upgrade the look of your home.

You may be wondering what the installation process of your new flooring will be. Read on to find more information about the installation processes for the four types of flooring we offer:

Carpet Installation

We’ll first remove the old carpet, and then clean and smooth out the subfloor. Once the subfloor has prepped, we’ll install the tackless stripes before we roll out and install the carpet pad. After the pad has been correctly installed, we’ll be ready to lay out and install your new carpeting!

Hardwood Flooring Installation

First, we’ll need to make sure the subfloor is prepared for installation, meaning is has to be perfectly level. Once we’ve made sure the subfloor is level, we’ll lay the first row in order to set the tone for the rest of the installation. After all the boards have been installed, we’ll do the trim, baseboard and shoe molding.

Luxury Vinyl Flooring Installation

Like with all other types of flooring, the subfloor will need to be prepped before the actual flooring can be laid down. Once this has been done, we’ll apply adhesive and then lay the floor into place.

Laminate Flooring Installation

The subfloor will first be prepared, and we’ll make sure to remove base molding. After this has been done, we’ll install a vapor barrier before we trim the door jambs. Once this has been done, we can install the first row to set the tone for the rest of the installation.
