Commercial Carpeting and Flooring Project: South Lake Cycle

Published: October 16th, 2014

We recently completed a commercial project for South Lake Cycle in Excelsior. The owner, Mark Schnorr, had a few competing needs when choosing how to handle the floor covering in his bike shop. He called Hopkins Carpet One and we came up with the perfect solution!

Since he had a lot of ground to cover for the main area of the showroom, it made the most sense to do the majority of the installation in carpeting. All other things being equal, carpeting is always going to be the most cost-effective floor covering option.

Still, Mark was concerned about chain grease and the possibility of staining on the carpet. To address this concern, we went with a selection that had black and gray yarns. With the walls painted white, we still had a lot of lightness in the space and could use a darker colored carpeting. This selection will hide incidental grease marks and other accidental spills fairly well.

Mark also needed a floor covering for the bike repair area of his space. This area was very likely to see grease, lubricants and other solvents as the bikes got assembled and repaired. For the service area, we installed a luxury vinyl plank from Mannington in a light maple color. Mark can be confident that the flooring in the service area will withstand whatever it takes to get bikes repaired.
