Transition Options for Luxury Vinyl Flooring

July 12th, 2022

Unless you have the same flooring throughout your home, it’s important to have transitions between rooms or different types of flooring. This allows for a seamless look while also protecting the edges of your flooring from damage.

When installing luxury vinyl, many customers prefer a transition that matches their flooring. However, we have been seeing a large delay in the supply chain for matching transitions in the vinyl industry. If you are not able to wait for the matching transition for your flooring install, there are alternatives! We have a few options of standard metal molding that can be used with all thicknesses of vinyl. This offers a sleek, subtle design that will complement all colors of flooring and metals in your home.

The three metal options (made of long-lasting anodized aluminum) are:

  • Satin Silver
  • Satin Nickel
  • Dark Bronze

Each of these colors also comes in three different trim profiles to meet your needs:

  • Reducer – transitions to a lower surface flooring
  • Square Cap – transitions to carpet or floor of similar height
  • T-Mold – transitions to similar height flooring; secures both sides independently

Each of these colors also comes in three different trim profiles to meet your needs:

  • Reducer – transitions to a lower surface flooring
  • Square Cap – transitions to carpet or floor of similar height
  • T-Mold – transitions to similar height flooring; secures both sides independently

These options are available in three different sizes as well to match the height of your flooring.

Here are some other benefits of these metal transitions:

  • ADA compliant
  • Scruff and scratch resistant
  • Install with glue down or floating floors
  • 10-year finish warranty
  • Cost much less than matching moldings

These transitions are great for both residential and commercial applications. Each transition is 84” in length and they are sold by the box in sets of five. Installation is easy with construction adhesive or screws.

When you are ready to install your new luxury vinyl flooring, you have various options. We can still order matching moldings if you don’t mind the extra expense and have time to wait before installation. Or, we can offer you one of these metal transitions for quicker turnaround time and less cost. The choice is yours. We just want you to know the options available, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
